Museums for cultural exchange
M4ce
In recent years such themes as, cultural diversity, intercultural dialogue, cultural exchange, heritage education in an intercultural perspective and the promotion of culture as an important element in the process of fostering international relationships, have taken a prominent position in European cultural agendas, giving place to numerable projects and cultural programmes with this purpose in mind.
Museums 4 Cultural Exchange is an educative project that researches The Social Role of the Museum: Museums as Spaces for Cultural Exchange.
The project focuses on the role of the museum, from being a source for information and learning in becoming a space for participation in social and cultural life.
Currently museums face fundamental issues and significant changes in the purpose of their function and mission. This project centres on the museums’ participation in educating and creating awareness about local and international heritage – the function and influence of the museum in the process of cultural exchange.
Museums play a key role in involving children in cultural heritage as a means of understanding and appreciating cultural differences and heritage. Museums can be used as a space for cultural exchange with the purpose of educating children about local and international heritage.
By acting as such, museums can actively promote and add value to the local and regional heritage through international partnership within museums as a means of developing greater awareness of cultural inheritance at an international level.
Interested in joining a cultural exchange experience? We will be more than happy to tailor make a cultural exchange project that will fit the purposes and exhibitions of your museum.
This cultural experience will take place between your museum, a museum abroad, as well as schools within the respective countries.
This project contains activities that will bring the museum closer to children, make them learn about local and international heritage and transform your museum into a space of cultural exchange.
The participants will take place in five main activities that involve the active participation of school groups in various cultural exchange activities that will take place in the classroom and in their regional art museum.
The first three activities of the project will be executed in the respective museums and included a presentation, a guided tour and a drawing activity. The fourth and fifth activities will take place at school and consist of a museum collage (that each pupil will prepare and exchange with the pupils from the other country) and a museum collage exchange exhibition that will take place in both schools.
Please contact us for further information and consequently a tailored made cultural exchange program specially designed to fit the needs and expectations of your museum.
